Dalhousie’s SIMConnect (formerly the Professional Mentorship Program of the Dalhousie University Student Chapter of the Canadian Library Association), pairs MLIS students with library and information management professionals so that they can connect in a mentoring relationship.
Participation in this program is a great way to gain valuable career insight, strengthen your understanding of the field, and develop a strong professional network.
We host monthly coffee meet-ups where all mentors and mentees are invited to discuss the latest trends in library and information management and to share stories and resources. Outside of those meet-ups, mentors and mentees decide the frequency and nature of their meetings: resume reviews, workplace tours, or chatting over cake!
SIMConnect is an inclusive association and everyone interested in learning more about the library and information management field and their role in it should feel welcome to join us. Our executive meets monthly and all are encouraged to attend.
Our current executive committee members are:
- Chair: Alicia Whidden
- Program Chair: TBA
- Communications Chair: TBA
- Treasurer: TBA
- Incoming Student Representative: TBA
